It was 2008 when it all started. Recent college graduate girl moved to Costa Rica to learn Spanish. One year turned into two years which turned into three. She moved back to the U.S. with an impeccable second language, right?hello

Fast forward another year. Now it’s 2012 and girl notices boy. A Costa Rican boy, to be exact. In the midst of dating, she realized her Spanish still needed a tutor… so why not marry the tutor (for many other reasons, of course!)?

So as they say in a sing-songy voice —

“First comes love, then comes marriage, then comes a baby in the baby carriage!”


Yup, you got that. Married in 2014. Baby in 2015.

And now, that baby has become a bilingual toddler. Spanglish is a way of life around here, accompanied by an honest look at parenting with language development in mind.
